The Back Bencher Newsletter The Back Bencher Newsletter is the Federal Public Defender for the Central District of Illinois' quarterly newsletter. Each newsletter contains a "Defender's Message" from Chief Federal Public Defender Richard H. Parsons, addressing current legal issues of interest to federal criminal defense lawyers. Additionally, The Back Bencher contains summaries of recent cases decided by the Seventh Circuit, a listing of recent conflicts among the federal circuit courts, and a Supreme Court Update. There are also other informative articles on federal criminal practice, as well as some fun quotations from opinions of the Seventh Circuit and noted personalities.
